Melisa Durak

Communications/Public Relations and Project Management Professional


She was born on December 2, 1978. She graduated from the Faculty of Media and Communications at the University of Ottawa/Algonquin College, and Business Communications Management at Carleton University, Sprott School of Business.

She gained experience as a communications manager for the Canadian Government Internet Authority, and then for the Canadian Nuclear Association. She also worked as an independent consultant for public relations and media, and as a project manager for domestic and international organizations in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and served as a spokesperson. Melisa has experience in organizing domestic and international media events, promotional campaigns, PR campaigns, and conferences. She also worked as a producer and host of a radio show at CHIN Radio International in Ottawa and prepared radio programs for CBC Radio Canada. In addition, she is a member of the Board of Directors of the United Nations Global Compact Network in BiH.

Melisa worked for five years as a public relations manager of the Lottery of Bosnia and Herzegovina, but also as a management system manager – standardization for better business quality.

Since 2015, she has served as a communications manager for various programs in various fields, for the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), where she created, directed, led, and managed communication strategies.

Melisa is currently the manager of the Social Media for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina project, and provides an advisory role to projects in work with the media in BiH and in the region, for UNESCO – the field of science, culture, and education.
