José Manuel Velasco (Spain, 1965) has a degree in Journalism from Universidad Complutense de Madrid and completed the Advanced Strategic Program at the Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne (Switzerland).

Currently works as a PR consultant and executive coach. He is a member of the advisory board and senior advisor of the Latin American leading PR agency LLYC, whose coaching practice leads. He is a professor of Communication, Branding, and Intangibles at Universidad Nebrija and UNIR. He also trains top executives to improve their leadership through communication skills.

After being the chair of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management from 2017 to 2019, he is still a member of the executive committee of the federation, the largest PR community worldwide, as immediate past chair.

José Manuel Velasco’s work experience includes 30 years leading PR departments in large and listed companies, such as FCC (construction and environmental services), Unión Fenosa (gas and power), and Renfe (public railways). Prior to starting working on PR, he worked as a journalist for print media and radio broadcasters.

From June 2008 to November 2014, he was president of DIRCOM, the professional body in the corporate communications sector in Spain. From 2006 to 2008 was the president of Forética, the Spanish forum promoting ethics in business.
