Dick Fedorcio is one of UK’s leading communicators with over 45 years’ experience specialising in public relations for public sector services.
His career started in local government with the Greater London Council followed by spells with Basildon District Council and West Sussex County Council before joining Kent County Council as Director of Corporate Communication in 1986. In 1993 he joined the board of the Electricity Association and from 1997 to 2012 was Director of Public Affairs at Scotland Yard for the Metropolitan Police Service where he was a member of the Commissioner’s Management Board.
In addition to managing numerous high profile national events and incidents he provided communication advice overseas to the police services in Greece, South Africa and Caribbean in the run up to the Athens Olympics in 2004, the Cricket World Cup in 2007 and the Football World Cup in 2010.
More recently he has been a mentor for numerous developing public relations practitioners, an assessor for public relations apprentices and Chairman of the PRCA Qualifications Board.
He was President of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations in 1992 and was awarded the OBE by HM The Queen in 2006 for services to policing following the London bombings that took place the previous year.
He now operates part-time as an independent communication consultant and chairs of two voluntary organizations.
