Stjepan Malović is an eminent media expert with a long experience in journalism and teaching mass communication. He has retired since October 2012, but still teaching and writing books about media and mass communication. Malović is a Doctor of Communication Sciences, and a university professor teaching at several universities in Croatia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Mr. Malović is an experienced journalist veteran who is oriented to media research and teaching today. Until now he was the author, co-author, or editor of 15 books on media issues.

Since 2011 he has been the head of the Department for Tourism and Communication Science at Zadar University.

He was director of the International Center for Education of Journalists (ICEJ) from 1998 to 2008.

From 2005 to 2010 he had been teaching journalism at Dubrovnik University. Mr. Malović was Head of the Communication Department of Dubrovnik University in the years from 2008 to 2010.

He was a visiting professor at Vienna University teaching “Media in transition in Post-Socialists Countries”, and a professor at the following universities: Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Zagreb, PR master program of Tuzla University in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Podgorica University in Monte Negro and lecturing “News writing” on High School of Journalism “Media Plan” in Sarajevo.

Mr. Malović is also teaching journalism classes at the High School of Journalism in Zagreb, which became part of the VERN School for Applied Sciences, Zagreb.

He is an experienced media trainer who actively participated in over 50 international and 30 national media workshops, seminars, roundtables and conferences.

He coordinated the Tempus project for Journalism Education and Training in Croatia (JETiC) in cooperation with the University of Vienna, and the High School for Journalism in Lille.

He is the founder of SEEMO (South East Media Organization), initiated by the International Press Institute (IPI) from Vienna, an organization of eminent journalists that tries to improve the media environment in the Region. Mr. Malović was a member of the Council for Media, a collective media ombudsman in Croatia. He was Vice Dean of Faculty of Political Science of Zagreb University in the years from 2000 to 2002.

Mr. Malović was the President of the Trainers Committee of the South East European Network for Professionalization of Media (SEENPM) and consulter of The Thomson Foundation, Cardiff.
